In Kind Services As in the past, we will be tracking important in-kind services provided by sponsors and others. We will require all interns to complete an in-kind form in order to receive their paychecks. Introducing Your Intern to Your Community Your intern will look to you for an introduction to your community. You can do this by giving your intern a tour of your community, inviting him or her to and introducing him or her to people who might be helpful to or simply interested in the project. You should also take your intern along to appropriate (and/or endurable) meetings that you attend, such as board and local government meetings. When does the internship start? Because students all have different schedules, the starting and ending dates are determined by an agreement between the intern and the sponsor so this is something you will need to discuss with the your intern BEFORE you have hired him or her.

Remember that all internships last 12 weeks. This may sound silly, but you should actually count out the weeks when establishing starting and ending dates - May 19 to August 19 is not 12 weeks!!

RE: Interviews Telephone interviews for specific internships will be conducted. In most cases interviews will be conducted by the project supervisor from the sponsoring agency.

Interns are hired on a rolling basis: each week several agencies conduct interviews, select and hire an intern. The two or three applicants not selected by an agency go back into the pool and may be interviewed for another project with another agency. Interns may be interviewed for several projects but will only be offered one position; by declining one position, one declines to participate in the program at all.

If a sponsor contacts you, please work with them to set up an interview time immediately. If a sponsor cannot get in touch with an applicant quickly, that applicant will no longer be considered for that position.
