Name:
James E. Joiner

When did you begin working for OSM?
1988

What locations have you worked, and what did you do?
: I have served as OSM's Equal Opportunity Officer since I arrived at OSM in 1988.

Looking back, what was your most memorable event(s) while with OSM?
I would have to say that the Reorganization that placed both EEO and Personnel under the same supervisor was one. The other most memorable events were when that structure ended and the EEO Office was place back under the supervision of the Director/Deputy Director and the decision to include the EEO Officer on the Executive Council.

What were the most significant accomplishments you had?
I think that my most significant accomplishments were to gain the trust of both management and employees and to help reduce the number of discrimination complaints filed by OSM employees. In addition, the EEO Office has been very successful in assisting management and employees in the resolution of disputes and in holding down the cost for processing complaints. The office has provided numerous EEO training opportunities and continue to have a good working relationship with employees and management officials.
