                    OSM AWARDS NORTH DAKOTA $500,207
               TO REGULATE SURFACE EFFECTS OF COAL MINING
                                    
The Interior Department s Office of Surface Mining Reclamation
and Enforcement (OSM) is providing North Dakota $500,207 to
assist the state in regulating the surface effects of coal mining.

The grant will assist in paying North Dakota s inspection and
enforcement costs including equipment, supplies, and transportation.
