                  OSM AWARDS NAVAJO TRIBE $311, 700
           REGULATORY DEVELOPMENT GRANT 


          The Interior Department's Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and

Enforcement (OSM) is providing the Navajo Tribe with a $311, 700 grant to 

assist in developing coal mining rules and regulations in support of a 

permanent regulatory program for tribal lands in Arizona and New Mexico.

     The grant evolved from the 1992 Energy Policy Act.
