OSM AWARDS KANSAS $98,117 TO ASSIST                                    
 IN REGULATING SURFACE EFFECTS OF COAL MINING
                                    
The Interior Department s Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM) has awarded Kansas a $98,117 grant to help the state regulate the
surface effects of coal mining.

The grant will assist in paying Kansas  inspection and enforcement costs,
including equipment, supplies, and transportation.
