                  OSM AWARDS KANSAS $105, 102 TO ASSIST 
                 IN REGULATING SURFACE EFFECTS OF COAL MINING 


          The Interior Department's Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and

Enforcement (OSM) has awarded Kansas a $105, 102 grant to help

the state regulate the surface effects of coal mining. 

     The grant assists in paying Kansas' inspection and enforcement

costs, including equipment, supplies and transportation.
