(Washington, DC) – President Obama's proposed $140.7 million in discretionary funding for the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM) in fiscal year 2013 focuses funding on improving compliance with coal production laws and reduces federal subsidies to the coal industry. [more]
The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM) has extended the deadline for submitting nominations for its annual award program recognizing the best examples of reclaiming coal mines. Nominations for the Excellence in Surface Mining Reclamation Awards are now due to state regulatory authorities or the OSM field office in non-primacy states by March 30. [more]
