Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA) National Coal Mining Geospatial GeoCommittee

The Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 (SMCRA) National Coal Mining Geospatial Committee (“GeoCommittee”) is created and chartered to discover, review, and promote geospatial technologies that increase the effectiveness and efficiencies of SMCRA organizations. (Previously known as the National Coal Mining Geospatial Committee (NCMGC)).

Purpose

The Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 (SMCRA) National Coal Mining Geospatial Committee (“GeoCommittee”; previously known as NCMGC) is created and chartered to discover, review, and promote geospatial technologies that increase the effectiveness and efficiencies of SMCRA organizations.

Schedule

GeoCommittee web meetings are held on the second Thursday every other month and consist of updates on SMCRA geospatial topics and vendor presentations. To get on the distribution list please email a request to GIS@osmre.gov.
